On Friday, October 5th at John A. Oberg field the Delsea Crusaders trounced the Camden Catholic Fighting Irish 54-0. It was a great bounce back game for Delsea after dropping a close one to Burlington Twp. last week. Delsea now moves to a record of 2-3 on the season and Camden Catholic drops to 0-5. Running back Aidan Borguet opened up the game scoring a touchdown and adding the 2 point conversion early in the first quarter. Delsea got the ball back and running back Shaikyi Hannah broke loose gaining a 70 yard touchdown run. Borguet added another touchdown in the 1st quarter and running back Keison Fowler added the 2 point conversion. Camden Catholic kept turning the ball over and Delsea was driving down and scoring every drive. Quarterback Damir Lomax scored his first touchdown of the game and added the 2 point conversion which now made the score 32-0 and the first quarter wasn’t over yet.
Camden Catholic struggled all night to even get the ball past midfield which allowed Delsea to secure the win by halftime. Freshman cornerback Trey Simmons scored his very first varsity touchdown by recovering a fumble and housing it, which put Delsea up 40-0. Borguet added another 2 point conversion. With a few minutes left in the half, Delsea scored once again when quarterback Damir Lomax ran in his second touchdown of the game and added the 2 point conversion which made the score 48-0 at halftime. At this point Delsea was subbing in younger players to acquire varsity experience and to avoid the risk starters getting hurt. Freshman running back Marius Fennal scored his very first career varsity touchdown which made the score 54-0 and the score remained that way until the final whistle. It was a great bounce back game for Delsea, but they have a very tough matchup next Saturday ,October 13th away against Woodrow Wilson.
