On Tuesday January 26th Delsea boys basketball played Kingsway in their season opener and lost a tough one 52-44. Jimmy Reilly led Delsea with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Cole Parks had 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists, Sadique Powell had 8 points and 5 rebounds, Enrico Barnett and Landon Burns each had 5 points and Barnett had 8 rebounds. Delsea looked pretty solid in their first game with a totally revamped lineup compared to last year considering they only have one senior starting. Kingsway played a lot of zone which resulted in several perimeter shots which Delsea didn’t knock down. The Crusaders surprisingly out rebounded Kingsway but were getting dominated with one player having 14 rebounds himself. Kingsway also shot more efficiently then Delsea which led to more timely buckets. Delsea played Woodstown on Saturday (1/30) and won 52-42. Cole Parks led Delsea with 19 points on his birthday and got Delsea the win. Sadique Powell had 13 points and 8 rebounds for the Crusaders and Enrico Barnett had 10 points and 8 rebounds. Barnett played lockdown defense for Delsea on Woodstown’s leading scorer holding him to 12 points. Chris Motter and Landon Burns also had 4 points each in Delsea’s win. Burns also added four steals and two blocks. Delsea was dominant racking up nine steals and four blocks and adding 31 rebounds. The Crusaders offense looked much more crisp on Saturday then their first two games. The boys have a tough week coming up, with three games over the next five days playing Williamstown, Deptford and Triton.
