Born and raised in Clayton, Dave spent most of his life in the Clayton and Franklinville area. He was a 1957 graduate of Clayton High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Glassboro State College as well as a Master of Arts in Communication. Dave was self-employed for 35 years until his retirement in 2000. In the early 1970s, he co-founded D.P.R., a public relations firm based in Newfield. During the late 1970s, he co-founded the Daisey Preschools with locations in Lindenwold, Pine Hill, and Clayton. Dave also worked as an adjunct professor at Glassboro State College for a number of years. He later formed Metapro, a business consulting firm based in Cherry Hill. Even during retirement, Dave continued working as a coach for his team of Watkins Products at-home businesses.
Dave proudly served in the New Jersey National Guard for 23 years before retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. He was very active in the Franklinville United Methodist Church including leadership roles and teaching. In his spare time, Dave enjoyed woodworking, cabinet making, gardening, and traveling. Additionally, he enjoyed writing including a published book, “Book of Mike”.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, November 18, 2017, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Franklinville United Methodist Church, 1525 Coles Mill Road, Franklinville. Funeral service at 11 AM at the church. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Franklinville UMC Memorial Fund. Services under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME.
