CHARLOTTE ANNE BAUER – Obituary

Charlotte Anne Bauer (nee Bussemer) of Sewell on Saturday, September 7, 2019.  Age 85.  Wife of 54 years to the late Paul F. Bauer.  Mother of Michele A. Boyd of Clayton, Nancy J. Juhring (Joseph) of Logan Township, and Paul E. Bauer (Grace) of Pitman.  Grandmother of Ryan Juhring (Kristen), Heather Juhring (Nick Miller), Cory Bauer, and Alexis Bauer.  Great-grandmother of Mason Juhring and Brielle Miller.  Sister of Elsie Debus and Richard Bussemer (Arlene).  Sister-in-law of Jeanne Bauer.  Daughter of the late Eugene & Charlotte Elsie (nee Woerle) Bussemer.  Fondly known as Aunt Chuck to many and also survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Charlotte moved to Clayton in 1945 at age 11.  She was a 1952 graduate of Clayton High School where she played basketball and received the nickname “Shorty” because of her six-foot height.  After graduation, Charlotte worked as a secretary for AC Schultes & Sons in Woodbury where she met Paul, her future husband.  In 1957 they married and moved to the “Real Sewell” where she lived until her death.  Later in life, Charlotte worked as a sales associate with Oral Ledden & Sons in Sewell.

Charlotte was an avid supporter of her children and later her grandchildren; she was their #1 fan.  She was also an avid sports fan and loved the Eagles and the Phillies.  In adult life, Charlotte became an avid bowler, was an awesome crocheter, and enjoyed doing word searches.  She loved listening to Engelbert Humperdinck and was thrilled to see him twice in concert.  Along with her husband Paul, Charlotte loved to dance and was great at the jitterbug.  She loved to laugh and was always ready with a joke.  It was well-known that Charlotte would never turn down a meal out even if she was in the middle of cooking.  She loved to eat, especially going out to breakfast.  The beach was a favorite place for Charlotte.  As a youngster, she spent time at Wilson Lake in Clayton and later enjoyed a membership to Hurff Lake in Barnsboro.  Many summers included a house rental in Sea Isle City.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.  Funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Interment at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  Sign the guest book or send condolences at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
