Charles Lacy Woodell on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. Age 86. Husband of the late Mabel Emma (nee Zell) Woodell. Father of Deborah C. (Debbie) Woodell and her spouse Fran Clark of Berlin and Charles R. “Rob” Woodell and his wife Sandra (nee Haynicz) of Pitman. Grandfather of Christine Woodell of Mesa, AZ and Jacob Woodell of Springdale, AR. Brother of John Woodell and his wife Ginny of Richwood; Betty England and her husband Bob of Hillsborough, NC; Arleen Meister of Gatlinburg, TN; and Thomas Woodell and his wife Joyce of Burlington Township and many nieces and nephews. Son of the late Lacy and Mary (nee Wentz) Woodell.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Charles moved to Clayton in the 1940’s and has resided there ever since. He was a 1948 graduate of Clayton High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Navy. Charles worked for 30+ years as an Insurance Investigator for Equifax until his retirement in 1990. Charles was an avid sports fan, especially the Phillies and Eagles, and coached Clayton Little League and Bi-County Teener League Baseball. He was on the Clayton School Board for 9 years and enjoyed going to Clayton High School football games any chance he got. His family fondly remembers how much he enjoyed his Saturday mornings with the Clayton Welding Club solving the problems of the world.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. Funeral Service on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment Cedar Green Cemetery, Clayton.
