On Friday October 11th, the Delsea Crusaders defeated the Camden Catholic Fighting Irish 23-8. The Crusaders improve to a record of 2-3, meanwhile Camden Catholic falls to 1-4. Delsea got on the board first after kicker, Pierce Lightfoot converted on a field goal attempt. Delsea stopped Camden Catholic on their next drive and took back possession. A couple long runs throughout the drive and Delsea Fullback, Jaedyn Stewart punched in the TD from a few yards out. Delsea went up 10-0 after the extra point. Delsea’s defense played lights out in the game and kept getting the ball back into their offenses hands and they converted. Now in the 3rd quarter Delsea still lead 10-0 and had the ball on Camden Catholic’s 6 yard line. Running back, Ricky Garron scored from 6 yards out to put Delsea up 16-0; the extra point was no good. Camden Catholic came back with a score of their own and a 2 point conversion to make it a one possession game again. In the 4th quarter Delsea took over and ran the clock out. With a few minutes left in the game, Delsea scored on a quarterback sneak from one yard out by Damir Lomax. Delsea went up 23-8 and held their lead until the final whistle. It was a great win for Delsea considering their next and final three games of the season will all be challenging. It starts next week at home against Woodrow Wilson, a very familiar face the last couple years. That game will be played Friday, October 18th at 7:00 pm at John A. Oberg field.
