BOOK SIGNING – LOCAL AUTHOR, ILLUSTRATOR ARTIST LOUIS PECSI – March 3rd 2PM B&N Rowan Univ
Local author, illustrator and visionary artist Louis Pecsi, of all things fantastical, has released his
newest edition in a trilogy of books in the Nosferatu series that traces the origins of Count Orlok
to his transformation to Nosferatu the vampire in the first edition. The newest book is Nosferatu
and the Crystal of Aradeth, the return of Nosferatu from the dead leading to his eventual
redemption in the final book, yet to be written. Mr. Pecsi will be signing copies of all his books
including his newest children’s books and a graphic novel, The Awakened Poe, and one that he
illustrated for Collingswood author Mary Beth Kosich titled Big Bad Jean on March 3rd at 2:00
p.m. at Barnes and Noble at Rowan University.
Mr. Pecsi has been through a transformation of his own and learned digital art in recovering
from a major car accident. He learned to read again by creating Nosferatu, The Untold Origin,
which uses novel graphic art techniques that he devised himself. The entire process of learning
Photo Shop and writing the story and creating close to 400 images in the book took nearly two
years, while he was learning to walk again without assistance. He has since created children’s
books that celebrate the importance of imagination in Theo’s Adventures in Time as Theo
invents a time machine as a 12 year old boy and goes back in time to meet Albert Einstein,
mummies, and dinosaurs. Billy and the Bronto is a vivid adventure of a boy and a Brontosaur
who become best friends and teach aliens visiting from another world what they are here to
learn, the value of love and friendship.
Big Bad Jean is the first collaboration between Mr. Pecsi and Mary Beth Kosich, who also
overcame health challenges by creative writing and her prayer journal and has a future book of
poetry that Mr. Pecsi will illustrate. She enjoys working with Mr. Pecsi because he so clearly
envisions so closely what she intended as images for the books. “Lou is a visionary artist with a
great imagination who can range from high flights of abstract art, to realism, to the digital realm
effortlessly,” she said.
