Bernice Carol Gassler – Obituary

Bernice Carol Gassler (nee Munyan) died on Sunday, May 10, 2020, after a long non-covid related illness.  Age 72.  Wife of 47 years to Karl William Gassler, Jr.  Mother of Christopher (Karen) Gassler, David (Shawn) Gassler, and Rebecca (Aaron) Shugarts.  Grandmother of Michaela, Isabella, Martin, and Everleigh.  Sister of Earl (Carol) Munyan and the late Bill, Bob, Harry, and Leroy Munyan.  Daughter of the late Clifford “Doc” & Frances (nee Rafine) Munyan.

Born in Camden and raised in Franklinville, Bernice has been a resident of Clayton for the past 40 years.  She was a 1965 graduate of Delsea Regional High School and worked as a legal secretary at Capizola, Pancari, Lapham & Fralinger, P.A. in Vineland for over 30 years, until her retirement in 2009.  Bernice was an avid crocheter who made keepsakes for every child and grandchild of the family; her talent was a gift to her loved ones.  If you were lucky enough to have an original “Bea” item, you knew you were loved.  Bernice cherished the time she had with her grandchildren and was affectionately known as Granny Bea.  She was a life-long “Jersey Girl” who enjoyed visiting Ocean City.  If she or someone else went “down the shore”, they had better bring back some fudge.  Bernice had a green thumb and found great enjoyment and satisfaction planting her flowers in the gardens around the yard each Spring. Her favorite film was “The Godfather”, and she watched it every chance she got.

Services are private due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and state restrictions prohibiting public funerals and are under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME.  Sign the guestbook or send condolences at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
