Bernadette Maloney- Obituary
Bernadette Maloney (nee Thompson) on Friday, November 6, 2020. Age 52. Wife of 18 years to Richard T. Maloney. Mother of David L. Jasper, Jr. (Tricia); Brian M. Maloney (Lianne); Sean D. Jasper; Tim P. Maloney; Tonya S. Thompson; Breanna E. Maloney; Megan A. Maloney; and Danielle L. Maloney. Grandmother of Juliana Sky Jasper and Owen Matthew Maloney. Daughter of George L. & Roberta A. (nee Sweeten) Thompson. Granddaughter of Florence “Flo” Sweeten. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Born in Camden and raised in Franklinville, NJ, Bernadette has been a resident of Clayton for the past 18 years. She was very handy around the house, a jack-of-all-trades, who could do anything she set her mind to. Bernadette was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys which often put her at odds with Richard and other members of the family who were devoted Eagles’ fans. She enjoyed listening to music by Luke Bryan and loved seeing him play in concert. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was idolized by Bernadette, and she would watch any of his movies, no matter how good or bad, whenever they were shown. Bernadette loved to travel, and along with Richard, enjoyed taking many road trips. She was a collector of things and had countless snowmen which she loved.
Bernadette was the heart and soul of the family. She became a surrogate mother for her granddaughter for a time before becoming a doting grandmother and the best “Ga-Ga” ever. Bernadette always helped others whether they were family, friend, or stranger often taking in friends of her children or other people who needed help. Not only did she rescue souls but also a number of pets and became the crazy cat lady with 4 cats and 2 dogs. She had a sarcastic laugh and would speak her mind with no filter, but she touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, November 13, 2020, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.
