Barbara Jean Harris – Obituary

Barbara Jean Harris (nee Hienkel) of Clayton on Friday, May 29, 2020.  Age 67.  Wife of Joseph Ruff Harris, Sr.  Mother of Joseph R. Harris, Jr. of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Allen Harris.  Grandmother of Sydney Reid Harris of Kentucky.  Sister of Linda Crane of Florida, Patty Zieger (James) of Clayton, and the late Thomas Hienkel, Robert Hienkel, Katherine Junkerman, and Sandy Hienkel.  Daughter of the late Thomas Robert & Lillian Mae (nee Seddon) Hienkel.

Born in Camden and raised in Clayton, Barbara was a resident of Mullica Hill for 31 years before returning to Clayton 14 years ago.  She was a 1970 graduate of Clayton High School and was a devoted housewife and mother for many years as well as working at times outside of the home at CBS Records, Ambro, and NER.  Barbara liked to crochet and made blankets for many family and friends.  She was an Eagles fan as you had to be coming from the Hienkel family and was a diehard follower of the “Big Brother” tv series.  Barbara loved her family and celebrating holidays together were important times for her.  She also loved gardening and going to the beach, especially Wildwood.  Barbara was a fighter and beat breast cancer three times as well as thyroid cancer before finally losing the battle to cervical cancer.
