BARBARA C. ALEXANDER – Obituary

Barbara C. Alexander (nee Edwards) of Franklinville NJ passed away peacefully on October 27, 2021 in Pitman Manor where she had been a resident for just 4 weeks. She was 86 years old.

Barbara was born and raised in Clayton, NJ and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Erma L. Edwards. She graduated from Clayton High School, Class of 1953. In 1960, she married Ernest Alexander and moved to Franklinville where she resided until just recently. She was a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan and never missed watching a game! She enjoyed bowling (in earlier years), doing word search and jigsaw puzzles, playing Scrabble, Dominos, Connect4 and Parchesi with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Clayton Methodist Church and the Clayton Senior Group for many years.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, her beloved husband Ernest, a son Ernest A. and her brother Ronald C. Edwards (Patricia). She is survived by her children; Barbara Carey of Newfield, Nick Alexander (Dee Cocchi) of Vineland and Jean Gilmore (Drew) of Riverton. Her grandchildren; Doug Carey (Amanda) of Minotola, Jonathan and Zachary Carey, Lauren and Amanda Gilmore, a great-granddaughter Isabella Carey and many nieces and nephews. Her dear friends and neighbors, Steve and Dori Swenk and longtime friends Shirley Joie of Glassboro and Anita Wilson of Aura.

The family would like to offer a special “thank you” to the staff at United Methodist Communities-Pitman (Pitman Manor) and Journey Hospice for the wonderful care they provided her in the last weeks of her life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday, November 1, 2021, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.
