ARREST IN MONROE TWP HOMICIDE
Press Release by Gloucester County Prosecutors Office
Susan Coffin-White, age 50, of Williamstown, was charged Thursday May 10th, with the death of 55-year-old David Morris, of Williamstown, stemming from an earlier domestic violence related assault. On May 2, 2018, at approximately 3:59 p.m., Monroe Township police responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding an unconscious male at an Eldridge Avenue residence. First responders found Morris unconscious and bleeding from head trauma.
An investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Monroe Township Police Department determined that Coffin-White attacked Morris around midnight in the residence they shared on Eldridge Avenue in Monroe Township, New Jersey. Coffin-White called 9-1-1 later that day and reported that Morris was unconscious.
Morris, the father of three children, succumbed to his injuries on May 7, 2018, at Cooper University Hospital, Camden, New Jersey. An autopsy performed by Gloucester County Medical Examiner Dr. Gerald Feigin indicated that Morris’s death was caused by blunt head trauma and the manner of death was determined to be homicide.
The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office charged Coffin-White, a specialized program assistant for the Gloucester County Special Service School District, with Manslaughter, a second-degree crime. Detectives of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Monroe Township Police Department served Coffin-White earlier today with the upgraded charges at the Salem County Correctional Facility where she was being held on Aggravated Assault charges stemming from the alleged May 2, 2018, assault. Coffin-White remains incarcerated at the Salem County Jail pending a detention hearing.
