ANNE M. ELLENA – Obituary

Anne M. Ellena went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2023.

Anne, also known as Angie to family and friends, was born in Germantown, PA in 1947. She was the youngest child of the late Rudolph and Rose (Baird) Szewczak. She graduated from Little Flower High School in 1965. In 1970, Anne married the love of her life, Dennis. Together they lived for the next 53 years in the house that Dennis built for his beloved wife.

Anne started work at a young age in a bakery. She went on to work for Sears for a number of years, but her most fulfilling paid role was that of church secretary at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Clayton, NJ. For 25 years, Anne was the first face parishioners saw as they walked through the rectory doors. Among her other duties, Anne always took the time to make each person feel special.

Throughout her life, Anne enjoyed giving her time to various charities. A devout Catholic, much of the charity work Anne participated in was related to the spiritual well-being of others. Anne positively touched the lives of every soul that she encountered. But, nothing gave her greater pleasure than spending time with her immediate and extended family. Her home was always filled with love and laughter.

Besides her parents, Anne was predeceased by her brother Joe (Eileen dec), and is survived by her devoted husband Dennis; her children, Anne Scaffo and her son-in-law, Michael; her sons Dennis and John; her grandchildren Alex and Eric Scaffo, Averie, Masen, and Gavin Ellena; her sister, Betty (Bill, dec) Obst; brother Rudy (Louanne, dec) Szewczak; and nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.
