ANNA CERNOCH – Obituary
Anna Cernoch (nee Puglia) on Saturday, December 19, 2020. Age 80. Devoted wife of 54 years to the late Erwin J. Cernoch. Sister of the late Salvatore Puglia (surviving wife Janet of Sewell), Nicholas Puglia (late wife Jean) of Pittsgrove, the late Joseph Puglia (surviving wife Peggy of Florida), Jennie Kortonick (late husband John) of Clayton, Russell Puglia (wife Joan) of Turnersville, the late Carmen Puglia (late wife Ellen), and Philip Puglia (Tracy) of Clayton. Special aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (nee Calio) Puglia.
Anna was born in Glassboro where she spent most of her childhood before moving to Clayton and graduating in 1958 from Clayton High School. She was a longtime resident of Cape May and in later years wintered in Schulenburg, TX before making that her permanent home eight years ago. Anna returned to Clayton three months ago to be with her family after the death of her husband earlier this year.
Anna was a devoted wife and homemaker, but she was also very much a hardworking and talented entrepreneur. She and Erwin worked hand in hand in renovating and flipping real estate. They owned and operated the Cliveden Bed and Breakfast in Cape May, as well as running a landscaping business.
Anna loved to sing and often sang in the church choir. She belonged to a group called the “Polka Club”. They performed on stage singing songs in Czech. She and her husband loved listening and dancing to country music and attended many classic country music concerts together. She loved her family and will be missed.
