ANITA LOUISE STEVENSON – Obituary

Anita Louise Stevenson, age 63, on January 2, 2025, in Franklin Township, (Gloucester County) NJ. Born on October 26, 1961, to Elizabeth June [Stevenson] Guy (nee Meyers) and the late George Van Horn Stevenson, Jr. She was the cherished sister of George Van Horn (Jennifer) Stevenson, III of Marietta, GA, and Bonnie Ann (Dave) Marshall of Malaga, NJ. Anita was a beloved aunt to five nieces and nephews: David (Casey) Marshall, Jr., Joshua Marshall, Tyler Chase Stevenson, Parker Stevenson, and Elleigh Kate Stevenson. Her family circle also included her stepmother, Susan Stevenson, and her aunts and uncles: Harry “Buddy” (Elaine) Meyers, the late John (Pat) Meyers, the late Raymond (Barbara) Meyers, and the late Linda McGaha. Anita was predeceased by her adored Maltese, Tiffany, who was a faithful companion and source of joy.

Raised in Franklinville, Anita was a proud 1980 graduate of Delsea Regional High School. She furthered her education at Cumberland County College, where she cultivated her passion for helping others. Anita’s career began as a slot attendant at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, NJ, where she worked for five years. Her nurturing spirit led her to a ten-year tenure as a nurse’s aide at the Egg Harbor Medical Center. Later, she brought warmth and delicious treats to many while working in the Bakery/Deli Department at Walmart.

Anita’s life was a testament to her Christian faith. She was a devoted member of Calvary Chapel Gloucester County in Turnersville, NJ. Her love for Jesus was evident in every aspect of her life, and she found great comfort in the community of believers she considered family. Anita held a special place in her heart as the godmother of David Marshall, Jr. She also took a memorable journey to Israel, where she walked in the footsteps of biblical history and experienced the foundations of her Christian faith.

A talented baker, Anita’s Christmas cookies were legendary among friends and family. She also had a deep appreciation for the arts, regularly attending plays and tribute bands at the Broadway Theater in Pitman and the Levoy Theater in Millville. Always eager for adventure and fellowship, Anita enjoyed being a part of trips with seniors. Her skills in needlepoint reflected her meticulous and artistic nature. Anita’s love for dogs mirrored her compassionate and caring personality.

Anita’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire those she left behind.
