ANGELO F. LASPATA – Obituary

Angelo F. Laspata on Sunday, March 21, 2021. Age 84. Husband of 54 years to the late Patricia M. Laspata (nee Sammartino). Father of Susanne Hess (Elwood) and Karen Myers (Chad). Son of the late Frank & Susan (nee Tomasello) Laspata.

Born and raised in Glassboro where he was a 1955 graduate of Glassboro High School, Angelo has been a resident of Franklinville for the past 54 years. He grew up in the family business, Laspata’s Meats and Groceries in Glassboro which his father opened in 1928, and followed in his father’s footsteps to become a second-generation butcher. Angelo eventually took over for his father in the 1960s and continued until his retirement and closing of the business in 2005. He was a good salesman and lived by the motto “sell it or smell it”. His wife often referred to him as “Mr. Public Relations” because of how much he enjoyed talking to people and how good he was at it. Angelo liked going to the racetrack to watch the ponies, enjoyed playing the lottery, and tried his hand at making different cheeses, making wine, and operating a small still. He enjoyed tinkering and working on things and could fix or make nearly anything. Angelo had fun on his farm raising cows, goats, sheep, pigs, geese, rabbits, and chickens, playing in the stream, riding his 4-wheeler, driving the tractor, and gardening. In his later years, he loved watching YouTube, especially the sailing adventures. Angelo was a lifetime and charter member of the Clayton Elks Lodge #2132.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, March 25, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton. Funeral service at 11:00 at the funeral home. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
