Albert J. Becker age 87 was a lifelong resident of the Star Cross section of Franklinville. He passed away on November 26, 2021. Born in Wildwood he spent his childhood growing up in Philadelphia until the family moved to Franklinville to a large chicken poultry farm on Grant Avenue. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1953 and went on to study the bible at Kings College and Shelton College where he met Martha the love of his life and they married in 1959 and were blessed with 62 years of marriage. They built their home on Stanton Avenue in 1963 so they could assist his mother with her needs. At a young age Albert had a love of music and sharing jokes, laughing with friends. He enjoyed keeping his garage door open to welcome neighbors to enjoy singing along with him to his record collection.
Early in life Albert delivered eggs and local produce to families in Philadelphia. He was known as the egg-man. He was an owner-operator for Riss International Trucking. He then worked as a custodian for Kingsway High School and retired from Orchard Valley Middle School in 2000. Al began attending the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Star Cross at a young age, where he met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served as an elder for many years. He was an active member taking part in worship music, bible studies, prison outreach and many other ministries. Al and Martha most recently became members of the Stratford Presbyterian Church where Al was honored as elder emeritus.
Albert was predeceased by his parents Hedwig and Albert J. Becker; sister Erica, son-in-law Mark W. Miller and nephew Bobby Chidester. He is survived by his devoted wife Martha, dear sister Hedy and her husband Joe Hogg; his loving daughter Cookie (Joan) Miller, beloved grandson Mark N. Miller (Bonnie), and was loved by many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and dearly loved friends.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 4th at Cornerstone Ministries Church, 1875 Janvier Road at 12 noon where family and friends can attend.
