WILLIAM S. MARPLE
         William S. Marple, 87, of Elk Twp., passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. Born in Washington Twp., he has been a resident of Elk Twp. for the last 62 years. A graduate of Glassboro High School Class of 1949, he went on to get his Bachelor’s Degree from Trenton State in 1953 and received his Master’s +30 in Education and Administration from Rutgers Univ.
          Bill began his teaching career in Point Pleasant Beach and then moved to Pennsville and then West Deptford, where he became Principal of the high school. Later he moved back to Pennsville where he became Department Head and teacher of Industrial Arts and Home Economics.
          Bill joined the Navy in 1953 and served until 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He became involved in Elk Twp. politics and served on the Township Committee and as Mayor for a total of 12 years. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, the outdoors, and being a “snowbird” traveling to Florida to spend winters at their home in Englewood. He was a member of Pitman Lodge #197 F&AM.
          Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Amy Marple (nee Mood); 2 daughters, Margaret Mullins (Braden) and Debra Wiberg (Dana); 2 sisters, Dorothy Stewart and Shirley Love (William); his brother, Harold (Eleanor); his sister-in-law, Josephine Marple; 4 grandchildren, Katherine Waltz (Jeffrey), William Wiberg (Lauren), Amanda Mullins and her fiancée, Eugene Burnett, Matthew Wiberg (Bethany); and 3 great grandchildren, Isabella Wiberg, Alaska Waltz and Keira Burnett. He was predeceased by his brother, Marvin. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February. 3, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 AM in MATHIS FUNERAL HOME , 43 N. Delsea Drive, Glassboro, NJ followed by the Funeral Service at 11 AM. A Masonic service will be held immediately preceding the service. Burial will be in Olivet Methodist Cemetery, Pittsgrove.
