VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO PLACE FLAGS AT VETERANS CEMETERY

(Monroe Twp.) – Each year Gloucester County Freeholders, staff from the Gloucester County Office of Veterans Affairs, and volunteers mark the beginning of Memorial Day by placing a small US Flag at each gravesite at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help mark gravesites for this year’s Gloucester County Memorial Day can join county officials at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery next Friday, May 26 at 1 p.m.
Freeholder Director Robert Damminger said, “It is an honor to participate in marking more than 2,500 graves at the Veterans Cemetery each year. Marking the graves of those who served our country is the most fitting way to start the Memorial Day weekend.”
The County’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at the Cemetery on Sunday, May 28 at 1 p.m. and is open to everyone. Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery is located at 240 South Tuckahoe Road, Monroe Township. Parking is available onsite.
