THOMAS M. SCHOFIELD, JR. – Obituary

On February 27, 2024, Thomas Monet Schofield, Jr., adoring husband and father of three children, passed away peacefully at the age of 78, surrounded by family. Tom was born on October 18, 1945, in Camden, NJ, to the late Thomas and Thelma (née Sowers) Schofield, Sr.  Predeceased by his beautiful wife of 54 years, Gloria Mae Schofield (née Bevan).  Devoted father to Thomas M. Schofield, III (Sharon), Gloria M. Garofolo (Daniel), and Tammy M. Yerkes (Erik). Proud Pop-Pop to Thomas (Erica), James, Dominic, and Steven.  Dear brother of the late Bob and Sam. Caring brother-in-law to Helen, Judy, and Patty.  Close friend to Donna Lacy.  Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Loyal and generous friend to so many.

Tom was a proud Army veteran, serving in Alpha Company, 4th Battalion, 3rd US Infantry Regiment, also known as The Old Guard. As a member of Alpha Company, Tom was stationed in Arlington, VA; one of his proudest moments was standing guard at the funeral of President John F. Kennedy.  Tom was a long-time resident of Franklinville, NJ.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time on his boat with his wife, kids, grandkids, and friends. Tom was an avid model train collector who loved building and perfecting his layout.

Tom’s wish was to be cremated; a private memorial gathering will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate in Tom’s memory to The Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Services are private at the convenience of the family under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME.  Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
