It is with heavy heart I must announce the sudden passing of my little brother, Richard “Rik” J.MaWhinney Sr., of Sparks NV on Saturday, February 12, 2022 in Holbrook AZ. He had a massive heart attack. Rik was born April 15, 1965 in Camden, N.J., and started out in Clayton where we ran barefoot, played in the woods, and caught toads. Rik attended St. Catherine’s Catholic School, and the Clayton Public Schools, as well as Y.A.L.E. Academy which was in Woodbury at the time. Rik dabbled in a few professions but construction was his passion. He was a proud member of Local 971 SW Carpenter’s Union in Reno NV. Rik was involved in many projects including the rebuild of Interstate-80 thru Reno/Sparks which was the largest construction job in Nevada currently. ‘Merica!
