The Township of Franklin honored Joseph & Aurelia Genna for their generous contributions to help save people’s lives and make a difference. Franklin Township Mayor John Bruno read a Proclamation at last night’s (7/28) Township Committee meeting and presented it to the couple. He stated that the Township of Franklin is blessed to have talented, brilliant, and selfless people living in the community.
Joseph and Aurelia Genna have been lifelong area residents who graduated from Delsea Regional High School. They are local business owners in Franklin Township. They have three children, Joseph, Janine and Robert and four grandchildren, Antonina, Ariana, Korin and DJ.
Twenty years ago, a scholarship was created and funded in memory of their son Robert who died at the age of 29. Each year Joseph & Aurelia donated from their own personal account to give to a Buena High School recipient.
Based on direct involvement by their family members, Joseph & Aurelia have decided instead to donate to three Franklin Township departments: Malaga Volunteer Fire Company, Forest Grove Volunteer Fire Company and the Franklin Township Police department who each received funds of $18,200 for a total of $54,600. This donation will have a direct impact in the local community allowing first responders to use this donation for the sole purpose of purchasing defibrillators, EPI Pens, Narcan and associated training for these devices.
