Margaret ‘Joan’ Craven Franklinville, N.J. Margaret “Joan” Craven (nee Haines), 84, of Franklinville, NJ, passed away early Saturday morning in the Inspira Medical Center – Elmer Division. Joan was born in Camden, raised in Audubon & Lake Garrison and has resided in Franklinville for the past 48 yrs. Joan also enjoyed spending her winters in Florida. She was the daughter of the late Margaret (Fullerton) & George W. Haines. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph Craven in 1986 as well as her brother Earl Haines. Joan was a graduate of Glassboro High School Class of 1950. She went on to Glassboro State Teachers College, where she received her teaching degree. She began her teaching career in Williamstown before retiring from the West Deptford School District with a total of 38 yrs an educator. She was a member of the N.E.A. & N.J.E.A. She was also a longtime member of the Christ Community Baptist Tabernacle, Elmer, NJ. In her younger years she performed with the Audubon Drum & Bugle Corps and later years with former members sang with the Bon Bon Chorus. She enjoyed knitting & crocheting and created many blankets and sweaters over the years which she enjoyed donating to missionaries & giving them to family & friends. Joan ministered to those in need with her husband at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission for many years.. She is survived by her son, David O. Craven; Step children, William Craven, Roy D. (Monica) Craven, Lois Rohr; 6 grandchildren, Danielle, Sabrina, Anthony, Nicki, David & Patrick; 1 great-grandson, Dominic; 1 brother, Gary (Helen) Haines; Sister in-law, Susan Haines. Relatives & friends will be received on Thursday evening 12/22 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm & again on Friday 12/23 from 10:00-11:00 am at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd., Vineland, NJ where her funeral service will be conducted at 11 am. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville, NJ.
