MANUEL ‘MANNY’ CASTLEWITZ – Obituary

Manuel “Manny” Castlewitz on Monday, June 5, 2017.  Age 86.  Husband of the late Florence F. (nee Miller) Castlewitz and previously the late Dorothy Mae (nee Culp) Castlewitz.  Father of Beverly (Greg) Lafazia, Mark Castlewitz, and Lynda (John) Hojnacki.  Grandfather of 8; Great-grandfather of 15; and Great-great-grandfather of 1.  Brother of the late Henry, Leah, Frances, Mildred, and Erwin.  Son of the late Benjamin and Rose Castlewitz.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Manny was a resident of Clayton for 51 years before moving to Moorestown 1 ½ years ago.  He enlisted and proudly served as a Private First Class in the US Army during the Korean War earning a Purple Heart for his 27 months as a Prisoner of War.  Manny was the publisher and printer of the Landers-Harold and the Homestead Heartline newspapers until his retirement in 2000.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Clayton American Legion, and the Clayton Senior Citizens.  Manny loved going to the library and frequented various church dinners.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.  Funeral service at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Interment private at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the National League of POW/MIA Families, 5673 Columbia Pike, Suite 100, Falls Church, VA 22041 or via pow-miafamilies.org.  Sign the guest book or send condolences at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
