Louis Polillo, Sr. age 90, passed away peacefully on July 9th with his family by his side. Born and raised in Glassboro, NJ he was the son of Antonio & Emilia (nee Lucella) Polillo. He was one of ten children, his siblings: Rose Manganaro, Carmella Schatz, Jean Moldoff, Anthony “Tony” Polillo, Antoinette Bauer, Susan Haines, Mary DeMarco, John Polillo, Marguerite Stein, and Leonard Polillo. He grew up on a farm with his siblings and would always have the best stories to share. His journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and his faith in God which began there with his family. What was important to him was honor, tradition, and respect, but family was the most important area of his life.
Lou lived in Franklinville, NJ where he raised his nine children: Louis Polillo, Jr. (Carol), Luann Innamorato, Mark Polillo (Susan), Gineane Dahlman (Mike), Steven Polillo (Carla), RitaJean Panzino (Shirley), Christina Scott (Stan), Angela Sajtlava (Mark), and Danielle Alberti, (Jason). His family was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Lou owned and operated his own construction business for over 65 years, with his brother “Tony” by his side. He took pride in his craftmanship and could build just about anything, teaching his sons & grandsons the trade. He loved farming, always having the most beautiful vegetable gardens. He enjoyed hunting & fishing, especially in Maine at his hunting lodge where he would entertain and scout with his hunting buddies. He was the manager of the men’s baseball league in town for several years, loving sports. He had a very special love and devotion for his many racehorses, with “Air Force Gun” (Gunnie) being his favorite. Lou enjoyed music, cooking, and entertaining friends & family. He was always known to share a joke or a story that would make you smile.
During the last eight months of his life, while receiving care at UMC Pitman Manor, he encountered more enduring friendships with the residents and staff. He enjoyed playing bingo, trivia, Tai Chi, attending bible study and other events. Everyone will fondly miss his fun personality and company.
