LORAINE J. DORNEY – Obituary

Loraine J. Dorney (nee Heeter), age 89, of Franklin Township, NJ, passed away on June 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She dedicated over 40 years to the hospitality industry, serving as Lead Bartender at Centerton County Club and Holly Hills Country Club. Her warm personality and dedication to her work led to many cherished friendships with colleagues and patrons. In fact, early on she was even recognized as the “World’s Most Delightful Bartender” in a local newspaper—a truly proud moment we often fondly recalled. Later in life, Loraine continued her passion for serving others by joining Nutra Serve, where she spent her final ten years of employment before retiring at age 78. She provided invaluable support to Delsea High School students, teachers, and staff by preparing and serving breakfast and lunch. She deeply valued her relationships with her colleagues at Nutra Serve and found great joy in greeting the students with kindness and smiles.

Beyond her professional life, Loraine cherished time spent with family, especially her 9 grandchildren and 12 and a half great grandchildren. As well as her afternoon shows, gardening, getting a good meal out and spoiling her many beloved pets. She thoroughly enjoyed occasional trips to the casinos which we affectionately referred to as her “therapy sessions”.

Beloved wife of the late Albert Dorney. Devoted mother of Kenneth L. Dorney, Sr. (Dolores), Ronald F. Dorney, Sr. (fiancé Valerie), Diane L. Dorney, and the late Linda Dorney-Caudill. Dear sister of the late Elwood B. Heeter, the late Wayne M. Heeter (the late Patricia (nee Lynch) and Lawrence A. Heeter (the late Carol (nee Knight). Loving grandmother of 9 and great-grandmother of 12, with one on the way. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, June 13th from 10:00 AM -12noon at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, where a service will be held at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Janvier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Frankin TWP VFW Post 2071, PO Box 234, Franklinville, NJ 08322 or Gloucester County Animal Shelter, 1200 North Delsea Dr. Clayton, NJ 08312.
