LENA ANN BRICKER – Obituary

Lena Ann Bricker (nee Benoit) on Sunday, August 23, 2020.  Age 93.  Wife of the late George D. Bricker.  Mother of Jeremiah Bennet (Clarice) of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada; Lena Marie Lofthouse (Steven) of Bonnyville, Alberta, Canada; Georgie A. Gahm (Richard “Big Dick”) of Toms River, NJ; Roy David Bricker (Cindy) of Clayton, NJ; Agnes Violet Bricker-Clements (Hank) of Chino Valley, AZ; Michael Walter Bricker of Elk Point, Alberta, Canada; Robert Francis Bricker of Buena, NJ; Gerald Joseph Bricker of Buena, NJ; Francis Theodore “TT” Bricker of Franklinville; Lena Dawn “Punnun” Bricker (Ben Archetto) of Landisville, NJ; the late George Duncan Bricker, Jr.; and the late Charlotte Elizabeth Bricker-Kostiak.  Sister of Violet Eisenhart of Salisbury, NC and the late Leroy Bennett, Francis Bennett, Chris Bennett, Clara Gabriel, and Margaret Doucette.  Daughter of the late Michael and Olive “Viola” (nee Russell) Benoit.  Survived by many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Born in Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland, Canada; Lena was raised in the Newfoundland Province where she met her husband George D. Bricker who was stationed there while in the US Air Force.  She moved to the United States with him after his discharge living in Philadelphia for 3 years, Franklinville for 13 years, Clayton for 6 years, Newfield for 27 years, and most recently Buena for 6 years.  Lena enjoyed making patchwork quilts, knitting socks, and cooking for family and friends.  Her favorite foods included fried potatoes with onions as well as ham and cabbage.  In her younger years, Lena liked baking pies and was famous for her apple pie.  She often helped take care of her younger grandchildren. Lena loved her homeland and traveled back to Newfoundland often.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, August 28, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312 followed by a funeral service which will be private due to state-imposed Covid-19 restrictions.  Interment 1:00 PM at Cedar Green Cemetery with public committal prayers.  Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
