Keith Allan Costill of Clayton on Saturday, August 8, 2020. Age 65. Husband of Linda Costill (nee Bell) of Ewing Township. Father of twin daughters Jennifer and Kristine Costill of Ewing Township. Son of Gene D. and the late Shirley M. (nee Brown) Costill of Clayton. Brother of Karen Watson (Kenneth) of Elk Township. Uncle to Danielle Walker (Thomas), Kenneth Rothwein (Laura), and Michael Rothwein.
Born in Elmer and raised in Clayton, Keith was a resident of Pennington for 19 years before returning to Clayton 3 years ago. He was a 1973 graduate of Clayton High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick in 1979. Keith continued his education with a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University, Camden in 1982 and later a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers Law School, Camden in 1990. After clerking for State Senator Dan Dalton as legal counsel, he worked as an Assistant District Attorney for the State of New Jersey for 11 years followed by 9 years as Attorney for the NJ Office of Community Affairs. Keith later enjoyed his time working for The Watershed Institute in Pennington.
During the 1980s, Keith was elected to the Clayton Borough Council and served as President. He was a passionate freshwater fisherman and loved the time he spent on Silver Lake. Ocean City was a favorite place to visit and to do a little saltwater fishing. Keith worked his way through college in the restaurant industry and became a passionate chef and foodie. Grilling was his specialty, and he loved it when people ate and enjoyed the food he had prepared.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, August 14, 2020, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312 with a Celebration of Life beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment Cedar Green Cemetery, Clayton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Keith to The Watershed Institute, 31 Titus Mill Road, Pennington, NJ 08534.
