JOYCE EVELYN LOGAN – Obituary

In loving memory of Joyce Evelyn Logan:
Born September 27, 1931, deceased September 9, 2023.

Joyce will leave a void in the hearts of all those who knew, loved and cherished her. Joyce is survived and remembered by her daughter Dede, her son Jay and wife Robin, her son Ron and wife Marie, and her daughter in law Liz. Joyce had the good fortune to live a long and eventful life, which also afforded her the opportunity to enjoy grandchildren Bryan and wife Marlena, Jonathan and wife Chrissy, Olive, Jack and Olivia; Joyce is also survived by her great grandchildren, AJ, Jessica, and Melody, and her sister Josephine. Joyce was predeceased by her parents Frank and Evelyn, brother Gerald “Sam”, and her oldest son Guy.

Joyce had long been given and adopted the nickname Joy, as she brought joy to everyone that took the time to know her. Joyce loved social gatherings and entertaining at her home, so much so that many of her children’s friends considered her a second Mom. Joyce was always happy to help any friends or family that needed assistance. She loved the horse races (gray horse to win!), gardening, and her beloved cats (mostly Siamese). Joyce had what today would be considered a very unusual skill…she was an accomplished accordion player. At the age of twelve, she was performing in a band on the radio. She would also entertain friends and family with her playing.

Joyce worked for the federal government just after the second world war. While raising her children in Park Ridge, NJ, she worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant for various companies and then as a self-employed professional secretary. A significant amount of time after that was spent as the Executive Director of the American Association of Office Nurses (AAON, a non-profit organization). After retirement she moved to Highland Lakes, NJ, where she became involved in the local bridge club, women’s auxiliary, and the seniors club. She eventually became the president of the seniors club. Joyce was also actively involved in organizing, hosting, and attending events as a member of the Red Hat Society.

Joyce will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but will forever remain in our hearts.

Services are private at the convenience of the family under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME of Clayton. Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
