GERTRUDE D. OGLE – Obituary

Gertrude D. Ogle (nee Dougherty), age 92, of Franklinville, NJ went home to be with Jesus peacefully in her home on Friday, January 31, 2025. Gertrude was reunited in death with her sweetheart and husband of nearly 70 years, Frank Ogle Jr. Lovingly remembered by her sons, Frank Ogle III (Jenny) and David Ogle, who all selflessly cared for her in her last days; Granddaughters, Terrilyn White (Christopher), Lisa Marie Hathaway (Joshua), and Laura Ann Still (Gilbert Jr.); and 9 Great-grandchildren, all of these she loved and touched deeply.

Gertrude leaves an indelible mark on those who called her Mom, Grammy, friend, and teacher. Her brilliant spirit, radiant smile and compassionate heart captivated everyone who had the chance to know her. Gertrude was a graduate of Glassboro State Teacher’s College and was a beloved teacher in the Clementon Elementary School for more than 30 years. Her loved ones fondly remember her passion for teaching piano, instructing many students from her home to play. She had a profound love for the Lord and faithfully served as a long time member of The First Baptist Church of Clayton as organist, Awana leader, director of the kids’ choir, flower committee and so much more. She had the gift of hospitality and always made room to host a homemade meal with a fresh baked dessert – inviting everyone in and making everyone feel at home. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, and her memory will be cherished until we see her again. John 11:25-26 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’”

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and again on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Clayton Baptist Church, 110 S. Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ  08312.  Funeral service on Friday at 12:00 PM at the church.  Interment to follow at Cedar Green Cemetery in Clayton.  Services under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME.  Sign the guestbook and send condolences at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
