EMIL LEON BRANDT, SR. – Obituary

Emil Leon Brandt, Sr. on Monday, July 20, 2020.  Age 81.  Husband of the late Margaret (nee Layden) Brandt.  Dear friend of Carla Balecia.  Predeceased by Julia Matlack (nee Buss), the mother of his children.  Father of Emil (Janet) Brandt, Duke (Lynn) Brandt, George (Jesus) Brandt, and Rick (Sandra) Brandt.  Step-father of Steven, Daniel, Paul, Marty, and the late David.  Uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather to many.  Brother of Mary Sims, Kathleen (Patrick) Barrett, and Carleen Brandt.  Son of the late Leon E. & Helena Christina (nee Schauber) Brandt.

Born in Camden and raised in the Pollock Town neighborhood, Emil moved to Turnersville 53 years ago.  He was a 1956 graduate of Camden Catholic High School and proudly served over two years in the US Coast Guard earning the rank of Seaman before his discharge in 1958.  Emil was a lifelong sheet metal contractor and a fifty-year member of the Sheet Metal Local 19 in Philadelphia as well as helped run Marlyn Sheet Metal in Clayton with his son.  He enjoyed fishing and boating

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday, July 23, 2020, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.  Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Saints Peter & Paul RC Church, Turnersville.  Entombment to follow at New Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Emil’s memory to the New Jersey Lighthouse Society, PO Box 332, Navesink, NJ 07752-0332 or The Lighthouse Preservation Society, 11 Seaborne Drive, Dover, NH 03820.  Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
