Eileen May Goodman-Tharp, age 66, on February 11, 2026, in Elk Township, NJ. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard “Barry” Tharp, Sr. Eileen was predeceased by her siblings, Betteyanne Goodman, James D. Goodman, Jr., and Peggy Ann Vasta as well as her nephew Salvatore Vasta. She is survived by her nephew, Michael Vasta of Delray Beach, FL. She was the cherished daughter of the late James D. and Anna May (nee Miller) Goodman.
Born on September 10, 1959, Eileen was raised in Clayton, NJ. She was a proud 1977 graduate of Delsea Regional High School. Eileen went on to further her education at Rowan University, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization as a Librarian. Her dedication to learning became the foundation of a lifelong vocation devoted to the children and families she served.
Eileen devoted well over 45 years to the Aura School System as an Elementary Teacher, shaping not only young minds but young hearts. Generations of students were touched by her patience, kindness, and unwavering love for learning. Teaching was more than a career—it was her calling. During her summers, she also worked at the Jamesway Outlet, where her friendly smile and strong work ethic were equally appreciated. Throughout her life, Eileen gave generously of her time, always volunteering and always ready to help anyone in need.
Eileen had a deep and abiding love for the beach and the ocean. She spent her entire life summering in Wildwood and Stone Harbor, faithfully walking the entire boardwalk down and back each morning. She lived for the beach, the warmth of the sun, and the soothing sounds of the ocean waves. As a child, she treasured time spent at her parents’ shore house in Grassy Sound, where she went crabbing and fishing with her father—memories that shaped her lifelong connection to the shore. She went down to the beach any chance she could, finding peace and joy there throughout her life.
Above all, Eileen loved God, her family, and her beloved husband Barry. She gave selflessly, loved deeply, and lived faithfully. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
