Deanna Jo Colabella
July 11, 1954 – February 2, 2025
We are very saddened to announce the passing of our sister De. She will leave a hole in the hearts of all who knew her. De is survived by her son Jon, his wife Chrissy, her precious granddaughters Melody and Elana, brother Jay and his wife Robin, brother Ron and his wife Marie, and her sister-in-law Liz. De was predeceased by her beloved husband Skip, parents Ray Simmers and Joyce Logan, and eldest brother Guy Cook.
De was born in Washington D.C. in 1954; she spent her early childhood years in Binghamton, NY, then her youth and young adult years in Park Ridge, NJ. After marrying, she and husband Skip moved to Maywood, NJ for several years. Some years after Skip’s passing, Dee returned to Park Ridge, NJ for several years; then she, and her mom moved to Clayton, NJ to be near her son and his family.
De greatly enjoyed visiting Disney with her family and dear friends. She also loved spending time with family and friends at the family lake house on Cayuga Lake in NY. De loved hosting family gatherings and was famous for her barbecue chicken. De’s house was often the gathering spot for her son’s friends, many of whom came to know her as a second mom. Hobbies included a never ending love for jigsaw puzzles, reading, and hanging with her kitties.
De graduated from Rutgers University in NJ, obtained her CPA license, then worked for a private accounting firm for many years. De eventually bought out that firm, turning it into her own successful accounting business. She had many clients that remained with her so long they came to think of her as family.
Services are private at the convenience of the family under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME of Clayton. Sign the guestbook and send condolences at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
