Angelina “Angie” Calio (nee Flamma) of Newfield died peacefully at home on Thursday, March 17, 2022. Age 98. Wife of 52 years to the late John C. Calio. Mother of Jeanne Flamma (husband Rosario), Nicholas Calio (wife Florrie), Olivia “Cookie” Taraschi (late husband Anthony, Sr.), and Linda Vassallo (husband, David). Grandmother of Brent Tarnecki, John Tarnecki, Jeanne Marie Schmitter, John Calio, Matthew Calio, Anthony Taraschi, Jr., Maria Ricci, Linda Miller, and Laura Williams. Great-grandmother of 7, and great-great-grandmother of 2. Sister of Yolanda Petetti-Ormsby, Sandy Petetti, Mariano “Morse” Flamma, Rosario “Dee” Flamma and the late Flaminio Flamma, Bingie Flamma, Pasquale “Pat” Flamma, John Flamma, Thomas Flamma, Pauline Martelette, Fortunata “Forchie” Martelette, Anna Menone, and Olga Waters. Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews; daughter of the late Salvatore & Olivia Mary (nee Orsini) Flamma.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Glassboro, Angie lived in Clayton for many years before returning to Glassboro, later moving to Newfield in 1995, shortly after the death of her husband. She worked for 50 years as a seamstress with the Glassboro Shirt Company until her retirement in 1990. During those years, Angie also had a peach farm in Elk Township. After retirement, she enjoyed helping her daughter Linda with her janitorial business. Angie loved spending time with her family, especially large gatherings and Sunday dinners. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and going to the casino, especially playing craps.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. Funeral mass at 11:45 AM at Saint Bridget RC Church, 125 Church Street, Glassboro, NJ 08028. Interment Saint Bridget Cemetery.
